Agate
Agate is a banded Chalcedony, essentially a microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline quartz whose individual crystals are microscopic, and thus gemstones are comprised of numerous, rather than individual crystals.
Individual bands can be one or multi-coloured, and often red (Carnelian), pink and brown, separated by greys. The common treatment is dying producing blue, green and red agate without banding.
Almost all Agates are sold as cabochons, however we do sell Onyx in flat cuts in a variety of popular signet ring shapes.
Moss Agate is a faceted gemstone and has gained popularity as a natural artisan gemstone. We stock the following faceted shapes and sizes:
